Search Box

Search Box for Affiliate Web Site Tracking.

As an AffiliateShop Merchant, you can create a search box ad creative to be placed on your affiliate's web site. You would need to use the FlexiLink script in order to track the source of the search query, i.e. to know which affiliate search box send you the query.

Let us illustrate the setup with an example.

You have an affiliate Tom (with AID number 123456) who wants to place your search box on his page called search.html. Hypothetically, the form tags for the search box would look something like

<form method="post" action="http://www.yourdomain.com/search.asp">
Please enter your search query:<inputy type="text" name="searchquery">
<input type="hidden" name="AID" value="123456">
<input type="submit" value="submit">
</form>

After the customer has entered the query and clicked the submit button, the form information ("searchquery" and "AID") would be sent to your script search.asp.

Naturally, your script search.asp will perform some search operations and generate the result. Now, search.asp needs to do one more thing in order to track the source of the query (which affiliate search box it came from). search.asp needs to read the form POST value "AID" and format it in a flexilink code.

The flexilink code needs to be generated together with the result HTML content.
