Using AffiliateShop to track your Advertising Campaigns and ROIs

A merchant can opt to use AffiliateShop to track the performances of their marketing campaigns across various advertising channels.

In essence, AffiliateShop allows the common tracking scenarios as described below:

  1. Setting up various banners or keywords for a particular advertising channel and noting the performance of each banner or keyword. AffiliateShop allows you to view the clickthrough amount for each banner/keyword and the number of sales referred from each banner/keyword.
  2. Setting up tracking for various advertising channels. A merchant can choose to create multiple Affiliate Accounts, each corresponding to an advertising channel. The merchant will be able to know how many clickthroughs are coming in through that advertising channel and how many sales are made as well. The merchant will also be able to know the banner that is responsible
    for referring the sale under each advertising channel.

  3. Using AffiliateShop dedicated Ad Tracking tool in Tools.

Scenario 2 differs from Scenario 1 in the case when Scenario 2 does not want to know the clickthroughs coming in for each banner type/keywords under a single advertising channel. But, Scenario 1 will track the number of clickthroughs for each banner/keyword under a single advertising channel.

Setup of Scenario 1

Objective

To track the performance of each banner, keyword under a single advertising channel.
Performance details clickthroughs and sales made.

Knowledge

You want to know the following:
- Clickthroughs for each banner, keyword.
- Sales referred for each banner, keyword.
- Ability to configure different link URLs for each banner or keyword.

Example : You want to track the performances of your 20 keywords listed on Goto. You want to know the clickthroughs for each keyword and how many sales are referred from each keyword.

Concept

Each Affiliate Account corresponds to a advertising agent, i.e. banner or keyword.

Setup

You need to setup an affiliate account for each banner type or keyword to be tracked. Please follow the steps below in order to create each advertising agent account.
1. Go to the URL below to sign up an advertising agent account:
https://edge.affiliateshop.com/account/affsignup?WID=######
where ###### is your six digit WID number.
2. Enter the name that will relate to that banner/keyword.
3. Enter only essential information, since this is not a real affiliate.
4. Enter the email address as bannername@yourdomain.com. This email
address does not need to be a functional one. Replace bannername
with the name that identifies the banner or keyword type.
5. Click on the Submit button.

Repeat the above steps for each banner or keyword that you want to track.

Next, login to your AffiliateShop Webmaster Account. Approve all the
Applicants you created in the Dashboard.

Your advertising agents' accounts are created.

Tracking

Each of the advertising agent account (affiliate account) will be given
a six digit Affiliate ID number. The link code for each of this advertising
agent (banner, keyword) should be as follow:

where ###### is the six digit Affiliate ID number.

You can also opt to have the domain name to follow your web site domain name,
instead of www.affiliateshop.com. Please read the FlexiLink section.

Redirect : You can configure the redirect URL for each of the advertising agent.

Sale : The last step will be to setup the tracking of sale

Setup of Scenario 2

Objective

To track the performance of each advertising channels without regard to the reporting of clickthroughs for each banner or keyword deployed under a single advertising channel.

Knowledge

You want to know the following:
- Clickthroughs for each advertising channel.
- Sales referred for each advertising channel.
- Banners or text links used to refer each sale.

Example : You want to track the performances of your marketing campaign from
sites such as www.cnn.com, www.cnet.com and www.zdnet.com. You will be
using a single banner to advertise on www.cnn.com and www.cnet.com. But
you will be using three banners on www.zdnet.com. HOWEVER, you are not
interested to know the clickthroughs for each of the three banners. You
are only concerned on the aggregate number of clickthroughs from each
advertising channel.

Concept

Each Affiliate Account corresponds to a advertising channel, e.g. www.cnn.com

Setup

You need to setup an affiliate account for each advertising channel
to be tracked. Please follow the steps below in order to create
each advertising agent account.

Next, login to your AffiliateShop Webmaster Account. Approve all the
Applicants you created in the Dashboard.

Your advertising channels' accounts are created.

Tracking

Each of the advertising channel account (affiliate account) will be given
a six digit Affiliate ID number. 

Basic Tracking without knowledge of banner/keyword used to refer a sale
The link code for each of this advertising channel should be as follow:

where ###### is the six digit Affiliate/Advertising Channel ID number.
Tracking with reporting of banner/keyword used to refer a sale
The fastest way to setup your linking code for each advertising channel
and to track the banner used (if you have more than one banner used for
an advertising channel) to refer a sale for an advertising channel is to
append a GID tag:

The link code for each of this advertising channel should be as follow:

where ###### is the six digit Affiliate ID number.
where BANNERNAME is an alphanumeric string (no spaces) that identifies that banner or keyword.

Sale : The last step will be to setup the tracking of sale.
